Jan 24 Interview with Arctic Night

Time to step up a bit and release another interview to all of you, following the place of Progressive House Worldwide. This time we got our Russian fellow from Krasnodar, one of the guys that from time to time makes real quality progressive breaks. But of course, he also makes his quality progressive house tunes also that we all know about. This time we have Arctic Night presented to you. Let’s hear what he has to say to us.

Hi there! We hope everything is fine with you and that you are busy creating new music to us out in the world. Let’s introduce you to our viewers. For a start, could you tell us, who is the guy behind the name of Arctic Night? Also, how did you get in the music industry and how did you go on to the producing part in your life?

Hello all! My name is Alexander Kolodeznyy and you know me in the world of progressive music as Arctic Night. Why Arctic Night? It’s all very simple, I thought about that for a long time, to name myself like that. I try to do the music as beautiful as a night in the Arctic regions. Same mysterious and bearing in itself. Music plays a major part in my life. My family and my music, without that I cannot exist.

You live in Russia, how would you describe the electronic dance music scene in general, and most important, the progressive house scene in your country? Is it played a lot out in clubs? Festivals etc? [click Continue Reading for full interview]

I consider that in my country now EDM is developed not less than in the countries. And in the Europe it it is distant not on last seat on this parameter. About it speaks good demand for eminent actors and Dj ‘ s. And in my opinion progressive music in my country hasn’t reached the peak of popularity. Just look how many DJ’s and producers from Russia that do quality music and they accept full participation in progress of this stage. I’m sure that producers that isn’t less talented than world stars lives in Russia but are unknown to the masses, but I can tell that their works is much more interesting and qualitative. They send me productions and I listen to it everyday.From this I draw the conclusion that Russia is a leading country in this area. I do not only produce, I DJ also. I try to never refuse if I get asked to take part in any action. There will be radioshows from me and sets in a club or open air. I love the public and it helps me to grow bigger.

There are so many good producers from Russia, what are your thoughts about that so many top producers come from your big country?

It is confirmed once again that with Russia great power. Both in the politician and by quantity of talents born here. And I’m very glad for the compatriots and counterparts.

If we start to talk about your productions, how would you describe your sound? What are your influences when you create your music?

When I create the music and when I sit down at the computer I I forget about all problems. It is possible to tell that music helps me to leave an everyday life. But the most important in this is my mood. Without inspiration I can sit down, begin and it will appear.

Any secrets with the producing part? What programs & equipment do you work with? Any specific VST’s you prefer to work with? Are you using both hardware and software?

Yes, I use both software and hardware.I produce in FL Studio.Vsti’s that I us is probably the same as a lot of others, Atmosphere, Omnisphere, Nexus, FM 8,7, and my favourite Blue from Rob Papen. That is all, together with my mood it makes my music grow is bigger!

We know everything about your producing skills, we can follow you a lot on big labels such as Mistique, Elliptical Sun, Deepsessions, 7 Seas and so on. Is it possible to go and see you work as a DJ also?

I shall repeat that each offer to participate in something, an event I consider and almost never refuse.You can see me as DJ in club, or on radioshow. But never I participate as DJ on corporate actions.

If we go in a near future, what can we expect from you in the coming months? Originals, remixes, touring? Tell us the news!

Yes. I will release my third album on my label Elliptical Sun Recordings. And for sure you will see many releases and remixes from me on Mistique labels and maybe other labels and of course  my label Elliptical Sun. We prepare A LOT of qualitative progressive music.

Have you got any producers that you follow a lot, listen to, get inspiration from?

There is nothing that is certain to bring me that, but there are separately tracks, that I have listened to that gives me ideas to sit down immediately to start writing music.

What would you say about the house music scene in general, is it possible to grow bigger or is it at it’s peak? if you get the chance to say something in general that you want to change on the electronic dance music scene, what would you say then?

Not in my right to say that or to change, but unfortunately DJ MAG shows us that progressive and trance doesn’t win in commerce. Though I trust the voting on DJ MAG and this edition for me isn’t authoritatively but all the same I would like to change the importance of progressive music as a whole. I want that it stood on one seat on popularity but it is very complex, but for this purpose there are we, the producers. To create qualitative progressive and to let out in weights, we shall try to change this tendency.

A lot of the music today is not sold, it’s spread through Internet and musicians hardly make any money at all on their productions. What are your thoughts about the sharing through blogspots, forums and all other ways for illegal sharing of music?

On productions you will not make money, the piracy now is so spread, it is necessary to go on tour to make money. People will always be clever, also they speak about what to buy if is free-of-charge, but in that there is one big plus, for the actor and the label, it’s excellent advertising, you do not apply any efforts and your music advance in weights. I try to see these situations as a plus. And fairly to struggle practically it is useless. But I shall repeat not against it, and I perceive it as promotion of my stuff.

If we move a bit further, were do you see Arctic Night in let’s say 5 years time with your music in general?

I see the music and through 5 and even 10 years. Because I do not wish to stop I wish to grow, especially to me is where also I shall move to objective through the music. I have begun producing 2 years ago and what I did then and now also, is that it strongly differs and that I will be more skillful in 10 years, I think it will be at another level. Music has creased to be a hobby for me now it is repaid for me and it has completely got into my life. Music is a part me. I cannot go seconds without sounds. And when I go on tour I try to inform up to people the feelings during sounding this or that track, and I’m very pleased when they understand me.

I want to tell all to enjoy, appreciate, protect, your home, your family, our planet and live only with positive emotions, and to help you with this, her majesty music!
