After EDX back in 2007, Dinka back in 2008, and Shingo Nakamura in 2009, i dont remember when i was amazed this much by someones production. Colin Fisher aka Soundprank, hailing from Ontario, Canada, just keeps hammering my ears with stunning atmospheric and melodic progressive house. The dude is on absolute fire, releasing on labels like Proton, Silk Music and Electronic Elements (Armada). The hype is off the hook, and i wanted to do a small chat with him, lets say an interview. And here it is. Sort of a first interview ever with this genius youngster. Now remember this coz this dude is someone to watch out this year and in upcoming period. Soundprank - Breakthrough of the Year!

PHWW: Hi there Colin! I'm really glad I have an opportunity to talk with you in this way; I think this interview is maybe even first one ever done with young and talented underground progressive house guru - Soundprank! So to start, how’s it going there? Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me like there is a really big hype going on around your name these days - few of your smashing remixes are on, you're out on Armada (ELEL), Proton, Silk, Anjunabeats is smilin at you, your tunes are into charts, you had an amazing guestmix on Jacob's SR Showcase with plenty of your own CD-R’s and some damn huge ones are among them. So how do you go through all those things?
Soundprank: Haha wow, thanks for the intro! This is the first interview I think! So far things are going just great for me. I’m new to this whole thing, but it’s really picked up steam in the last 5 months. I’m think I’m just really fortunate to be dealing with some really fantastic people who understand where I come from and what I want to do with music
PHWW: Since you are a newbie to EDM scene, can you introduce us yourself in few words? Who is Soundprank?
Soundprank: Well I’m from Ontario, Canada, and started teaching myself production for a few years, but only really started to take it seriously after I got asked to produce a record for A Must Have. It has been tough as I’m now managing to produce music while finishing University. It came about rather unexpectedly as I never planned to get into making music professionally. How things change right? J Soundprank is just a moniker I invented since nobody else was using it, but it just sort of stuck.
PHWW: Can you tell us how you have entered the music world? Is music something that has been surrounding you from the childhood?
Soundprank: I’ve been doing music since I was really young, where I started playing piano classically for many years as well as drums and percussion. Getting into producing EDM was a natural transition as I’ve always loved electronics, so being able to combine both is what makes me enjoy producing EDM so much I think. I started off just messing around with the Fruityloops demo software when I was younger and I was hooked!
